A mighty view

It was three in the afternoon when I crossed the Hungarian border, at the old crossing. In a spirit of adventure I turned of my GPS and went with the flow of the road…

It took me a long hour to get back to the road I should have been taking, and another three of driving through endless country villages ’till I crested a hill and before me the Pearl of the Daunabe revealed itself, gently hugging the curve of the river: I had arrived in Budapest.

After a calm evening of wandering the winding streets of Budapest, I started the next day with a trip to the hilltop fortress in Buda, home to the local version of the Statue of Liberty, and also to one of the greatest views in the city: the marvelous Chain bridge connecting the large palace on one bank, and the massive House of Parliament (the third largest in the world) on the other.
When night fell, they lit the river-side lights, and under the nearly-full moon, in some interesting new company, the world seemed pretty good indeed.
